3rd Grade Teacher

Room 114

Dear Parents/Guardians.

Welcome back to school!  I hope all of you had a wonderful summer.  My name is Chasu Lo and I will be your child’s 3rd grade teacher this year.  This will be my 23rd year teaching in Minneapolis Public Schools.  I spent the first 16 years at Sheridan Global Arts School.  I have spent the majority of the time in 3rd grade, but also have some experience teaching 2nd grade and ESL.  I’m very excited about starting my seventh year at Hale and working with you and your child towards a successful school year.

I live in the Hale neighborhood and my children attend Hale, Field, Southwest and Augsburg University.  I grew up mostly in Minneapolis and also went to Minneapolis Public Schools  (Sanford Junior High, and South High School).  Afterwards, I received a B.A. in English/Creative Writing from the University of Minnesota.  I obtained my teaching license and Master’s Degree from the University of St. Thomas.

I come from a big family and now also have a big family. When I’m not teaching, I’m hanging out with my family.  We love to bike, visit parks or go swimming.  When I can find time alone, I like to read, jog, observe nature or go fishing.

As a teacher, I take learning very seriously.  I believe in working hard to accomplish your goals.  At the same time I enjoy using laughter as a means for learning and enjoying our classroom.  I love 3rd grade.  In 3rd grade, students take great strides towards independence and finding out their interests.  It’s great to be a part of their learning. I enjoy teaching all subject areas. Reading is my biggest passion.  I enjoy the wealth of information and knowledge that can be gained through reading.  I like the process of helping students acquire new reading strategies and skills.  I also have an interest in technology and am excited to continue my work with the Promethean Board this school year.  While I strive to have a fun classroom learning environment, I also believe it is my job to challenge students beyond their own expectations. I look forward to helping them grow academically, behaviorally, and as responsible members of the learning community.

I’m very happy your child is in my class and I’m looking forward to a great school year.  I can be contacted in a variety of ways.  While I prefer email, here are the best ways to contact me as of right now:
