With more and more research suggesting that homework is not correlated with student growth in the elementary grades, we will not be sending traditional homework this year.  Students will still be asked to read 30 minutes each night but we will not require a reading log.  Instead consider the following options as “homework” throughout the year.  First, we encourage you to discuss the books your child is reading at home.  Students also have online access to Read Theory and Moby Max.  These websites offer short reading passages which include comprehension checks.  Additionally, students should study their math facts online via Dreambox or Moby Max.  Please contact me if you need assistance with accessing these sites.  Lastly, students may be asked to complete or revise any work that is not done in class.  Occasionally, we may send home extra work or provide suggestions for strengthening ideas at home via ClassDojo.  Thank you for supporting your child’s learning.
