Welcome to Second Grade - Room 212

Hi! My name is Kristi Alman. I have been teaching in the Minneapolis Public Schools since 1985 and I love my job! Most of my experience in teaching has been with second graders, but I have also taught 1st grade, 3rd grade and multiple grades during the summer. I graduated with my Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from the University of Minnesota with an emphasis in Mathmatics. I have my Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Language Arts from St. Mary's University. So I consider myself quite well rounded. I am the Talent Development Representative for Hale School and I am a member of the Hale School Site council as well! I love being active in my school and being an advocate for all students. I also am a softball coach for Eastview High School in Eagan.

I have a wonderful husband, Larry, that supports everything I do. He loves that I teach and helps out with little projects in the classroom throughout the year. We have two children, our daughter Katelyn and our son Ben.  Katelyn was just newly married and we have added a son-in law to our family too. His name is Jake! We think all three kids are pretty great! My mom, Maureen Audette comes to volunteer almost every day at Hale. Lucky us! In our free time we like to garden, cook, travel, and hang out with friends. We all enjoy reading too!

My hope is that my second graders develop a life-long love of learning. I want them to enjoy school, make new friends and have fun while being challenged in my classroom.

Second Graders really are terrific!
