After School Activities

Hale has many options for children to participate in after-school activities. We offer the following:

Community Ed:

Welcome to Community Education Afterschool! We offer a wide variety of enriching classes from arts, crafts, dance, sports, and more! Our programs at Hale and Field are created with love and care so our kids can creatively express themselves, make friends, and have fun! We offer new classes each season and families can register online on Eleyo (https://minneapolis.ce.eleyo.com). If you'd like to be added to our emailing list, please fill out this interest form. If you have any questions, you can contact the Community Ed Afterschool Coordinator Adam Clark at adam.clark@mpls.k12.mn.us. Thank you!

Spanish with University Language Center:

Hale partners with University Language Center to offer tuition-based Spanish instruction on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. beginning in late September and continuing until mid-May. Needs-based scholarships are available. Please contact us at 952-224-5600 or spanish@ulanguage.com.

ALC - GEMS & GISE:

Fall 2022- Robotics  - In this exciting robotics class students learn mechanical design, construction, programming, and teamwork skills. In pairs, using LEGO building elements, motors, and sensors, students build different robot prototypes and program them with a computer to move, react, and make sounds. Students will utilize their prototypes and programming to solve design challenges using the LEGO WeDo 2.0, EV3 or the Lego Spike Prime Robotic Systems. Students will participate in the 2022 Robotics FIRST Lego League Challenge: ENERGIZE.

Spring 2023-Energy, Electricity and Electronics!  - In these engaging and investigative classes students are immersed in the fundamentals of energy, electricity, and electronics. Students explore energy sources, examine energy basics (energy measured, converted, and transferred) and the future of energy including conservation and alternatives through an interactive problem based approach. Students conduct hands-on investigations into the properties of electricity – currents, open and closed circuits, series and parallel circuits, and static electricity. Students work and learn through exciting, project-based electronics experiments utilizing circuit boards and electronic components for circuit construction, testing, and troubleshooting.
