Welcome to Room 216!

Take a look at some information about Room 216!

A bit about me:

I started teaching in Minneapolis in 1992.  I have been teaching 3rd grade since I started here at Hale in 1999, but now thiis is my first year teaching 2nd grade. Before I came to Hale, I used to teach at Field School when it used to be 4th - 6th grade.  I love to travel and see what kids are like all over the world (they're pretty much the same everywhere!). I grew up loving sports and just being outside. I try to get my students moving for various breaks because I truly believe it helps in their learning.

I am married to my husband, Ivan, who is from Cuba.  We love nature, the ocean, and just being with people! My husband was a Spanish/English teacher down in Cuba.  He worked for a time at the Richfield Dual Language School where he could use his first language, Spanish.  He graduated from the Minnesota School of Business with a degree in Medical Assisting and currently works at CUHCC clinic in Minneapolis. He loves it there, but truly has the heart of a teacher.

I hope that as your child learns in my classroom that learning is life-long and can be fun. We work hard on building relationships and community in our class.  I want kids to leave my room with more friends than they had and ready for 3rd grade and beyond.
