Hale Site Council: Call for 2023-24 Members
We are looking for interested, engaged caregivers who would be interested in serving on Hale’s site council for the 2023-24 school year. The Hale School Site Council seeks membership that reflects the diversity of Hale School and our community. Caregivers of English Language Learners, students with disabilities, special education students, BIPOC students, gender diverse and LGBTQ+ students, and low-income students are particularly encouraged to express interest.
What is Site Council? Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) site councils support principals and ensure the continued success of their schools. Site councils include staff, caregivers, and community members. At Hale, membership consists of the Hale principal, six Hale School employees, six caregiver members, and one member from the community.
Here’s what it entails
-
Serve up to a two-year term and attend monthly meetings during the school year;
-
Build relationships with Hale staff and families and be a resource to other Hale families;
-
Help build a strong, collaborative relationship with our partner school, Field Elementary;
-
Provide your insights, questions and ideas to the principal on school issues such as establishing a school mission and vision; determining School Improvement Plan (SIP) goals; and allocating the school budget.
Currently, the Hale Site Council is seeking three caregivers to fill open positions. If you are interested in participating, or you know someone you would like to suggest for Site Council, please complete an interest form or email Stephen.Uhler@mpls.k12.mn.us, to share your contact info, why you’re interested in the Hale Site Council and how you would contribute to Hale Site Council’s responsibility to represent the diverse voices of our school community.
Want to know more before you decide? For a parent perspective, we invite you to reach out to current site council member Kate Vickery at kate.vickery@gmail.com.
Please submit your email or interest form by Tuesday, September 12. Site Council will review interest forms and select members before the first Site Council meeting in September.
