Information for New Families

Welcome to Hale!  We hope the following information helps your family make a smooth transition to our school.

Our staff encourages families to have their child(ren) attend school for the first time the day after registration forms are completed.  This will give the teachers an opportunity to get ready for their new student's arrival.  We hope to be able to give you the opportunity to meet the teacher, meet classmates and see the school the same day you register.

Bus information will be given to parents when registration forms are completed.  A bus pass will be given to the student on the first day of attendance to give to the afternoon bus driver.  A pass is not needed for the morning driver since they are instructed to pick up all students at the bus stop.  A bus tag will also be given to new kindergarten and first grade students.

Meals:  Breakfast is available to all students free of charge and is served beginning at 7:15 a.m..  Students should report to the breakfast room as soon as they arrive from the bus or are dropped off.  Lunch:  All students receive a PIN which they use each time they go through the lunch line.  Information on menus, lunch prices and signing up for School Cafe (where you may deposit funds into your child's account) may be found at

Attendance:  Please call the attendance line at (612) 668-3765 by 8:00 a.m. each day your child will be absent.  Children should be fever free without medication for 24 hours before returning to school.  Student arriving after 7:30 a.m. must report to the office for a tardy pass before going to their classroom.  If they do not check into the office, they will be marked absent for the entire day.

Medications:  A Medication Consent Form must be provided to the Health Office for all medications (including over the counter) that must be given at school.  A signature from the Doctor and Parent is required.  This form is available under the "Forms" section of the Hale website.

Afternoon Dismissal:  Some classes dismiss for the day at 1:55.  Parents who pick up their child(ren) should do so either along 53rd Street or 12th Avenue.  If there is a change of plans for the afternoon, a note must be sent with your child in the morning with details on what your child is doing at the end of the day.  If we do not see a note, he/she will be sent to their normally scheduled location.  If your child will be riding the bus home with a friend, a note should be given to office staff in the morning stating your child's first and last name and room number plus the first and last name of the student he/she is going home with.
